VCA – Course & examination in Romania
What is the B-VCA course?
The VCA Basic course (Basic Elements of Safety) provides participants with essential knowledge of health and safety at work, focusing on risk identification, proper use of protective equipment, and the application of safe working procedures.
The VCA training can take place either in person, at our headquarters in Bucharest, or online, depending on the participants’ availability.
The VCA Basic exam takes place at the mateco Academy examination center, lasts 60 minutes, and consists of 40 questions.
The VCA Basic certificate is valid in the Netherlands and Belgium, and in countries such as France, Germany, or Austria it may be recognized depending on each employer’s policies.
Enrollment and participation requirements for the VCA course and examination
- Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Participants must be physically and mentally fit to take part in the course and examination.
- Knowledge of the Romanian language, written and spoken*

On the day of the course and exam, participants must present:
- ID document
- Decent attire

Location
The VCA courses are conducted:
- At the mateco headquarters: Șos. Giurgiului 48E, Jilava, Ilfov County,
- At the location specified by the client, in compliance with the examination requirements imposed by the VCA standards (SSVV and BeSaCC).
On request, depending on the number of inquiries, examination can take place at one of our locations in: Constanța, Iași, Brașov, Ploiești, Craiova, Sibiu, Cluj, Oradea, Timișoara.
VCA Certification
After passing the VCA Basic exam, participants receive the VCA diploma. The certification is valid internationally for 10 years*.

VCA course content
The VCA course is intended for construction-site workers (construction laborers, electricians, plumbers, welders, or equipment operators, people who work in high-risk environments), employees of subcontractor companies who must comply with the safety standards imposed by clients or local legislation, and individuals who wish to work in the construction or logistics field, including in Romania or the EU, where VCA certification is often a mandatory requirement for access to worksites. The course covers the following topics:
- Basics of health and safety at work,
- Risks and prevention,
- Use of protective equipment,
- Safe working procedures.
